Forematter

Your company,
explained properly.

Forematter answers your team's questions from your own approved documents, shows where every answer came from, and passes anything it can't answer to the person who owns it.

Example

When do we get paid?

Salaries are paid on the 25th of each month. If the 25th falls on a weekend, you're paid on the last working day before it.

  • Staff handbook: Pay and expenses Salaries are paid on the 25th, or the last working day before it. Owned by Priya Shah, Operations

How it works

From the documents you already have to answers people trust

  1. Add what you haveUpload PDFs, Word, PowerPoint, Markdown or text. Each file is screened before it's used.
  2. Mark what's trueSet each document's authority, a review date, an owner and who can see it.
  3. People askAnswers come only from approved documents, with the source, its date and its owner.
  4. Gaps go to a personWhen there's no good answer, you can send the question to whoever owns the topic.
  5. Answers are keptAn admin can save a reply as an answer, so the next person gets it straight away.

People stay in charge

When it doesn't know, it asks the person who does

It never guesses. A question with no approved answer can go to the person who owns that topic. The employee sees who that is and exactly what will be shared, and nothing is sent until they choose to.

1 · No approved answer
Example

Can I get a standing desk?

There's no approved answer to this yet. The person who owns equipment requests can answer it.

2 · A person answers

Can I get a standing desk?

Maya Brooks replied

Yes. Fill in the equipment request form and I'll order one within a week.

3 · Saved for next time

Can I get a standing desk?

Yes. Fill in the equipment request form and it will be ordered within a week.

Onboarding

A paced first few weeks, not a pile of documents on day one

Short modules are built from the same approved documents: explainers, introductions, quick checks, policy acknowledgements and small tasks. Nothing reaches a new starter until an admin publishes it, and every acknowledgement records the exact wording they saw.

Privacy

Private by default, and never quietly otherwise

Conversations belong to the employee. A company can let admins and an employee's own line manager read them, but only after the employee has been told, only what they ask after that, and every read is recorded where they can see it.

How Forematter handles your data

ExampleYour conversationsEmployee view

Your company's admins and your line manager can read these conversations. You acknowledged this on 3 Oct. Anything you asked before then stays private.

Who has read them

  • Sam Carter (your line manager)
  • A company admin
